Theatre’s attempt to make a fast buck with midnight show of ‘Jalsa’ goes awry

Sangareddy: The efforts of a cinema theatre to make a fast buck by screening Pawan Kalyan’s new Telugu flick ‘Jalsa’ on the midnight of Tuesday without any permission led to the arrest of two scribes and pandemonium at the gates of the theatre. The Natraj theatre next to the new bus stand here sold tickets to hundreds of Pawan Kalyan fans in the hope that it could squeeze in one show before dawn. It sold white papers with rubber stamp on it in place of the tickets. However, the management developed cold feet as the boxes failed to arrive in time and the fans became restless with each passing moment.
Meanwhile, news of the show without permission spread and few reporters of vernacular dailies also gathered at the gates to find out the truth.
Unaware of the fact that the theatre planned for a show after the completion of the regular second show, the Rakshak police started sending the fans away as it was past midnight.
In doing so, the police also pushed the scribes away, who resisted, leading to the arrest of the scribes.
Refund ordered
SI Sridhar Reddy later said that the scribes were released immediately after they realised that they there covering the incident. The police also asked the management to close the theatre for the day and made the management refund money for the tickets.
