Unique collection: Osian’s has added models of iconic creatures from Hollywood blockbusters to its reserve. NEW DELHI: Osian’s, the country’s pioneering archive and auction house, has now added to its rich collection some original visual effect creatures, models and puppets from Hollywood blockbusters. The figures representing some the most iconic creatures including the “Tyrannosaurus-Rex”, “Pteranodon” and “Dilophosaurus” from the Jurassic Park series were purchased by Osian’s at an auction in Los Angeles this past week. The Osianama already has a memorabilia collection from Hollywood’s science-fiction and horror films. Important art works from films such as “Planet of the Apes”, “Star Wars”, “Hell Raiser”, “Scream”, “Spider-Man” and “The Terminator” are already part of the collection along with thousands of other rare artefacts on world cinema. A highlight of this unique collection is the “Dilophosaurus” display study from “Jurassic Park” made of solid poly-foam pieces. The “Pteranodon” display features an entire set of screen used “Pteranodons” from “Jurassic Park III”. The adult “Pteranodon” and five babies feeding on the screen used baby T-Rex stunt puppet from “Jurassic Park II”, have an incredible visual impact. All these figures are mounted on a wooden display base. Neville Tuli, founder Chairman - Osian’s, says the idea behind purchasing the creatures is to bring a smile on the visages of Indian children. “The younger minds have a fascination for the science-fiction and horror film creatures which show magnificent imagination and represent some of the most unique creations of Hollywood. We have our own exciting myths and fables, but so far we have not been able to create living forms of characters such as these in our films. It is something to respect, learn from and then create anew from our roots and sensibilities but with the best use of technologies and craftsmanship.” ExhibitionThe art works will be exhibited in The Osianama, an integrated arts and film museum-archive-entertainment centre in Mumbai. Later, the works will be brought over to the Capital.
