CUTTACK: The Fifth PVR Murthy inter-school cricket tournament would begin at the Engineering School ground here from April 5. The tournament organised by the oldest club of the city -- Union Sporting, would continue up to April 20. At least 16 teams from the schools located in Cuttack city would participate in the tournament this year, said Union Sporting secretary Pradeep Chouhan. Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Chouhan said the matches would be of 25 overs each and would be played from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in view of the ensuing summer season. Each participating team would be provided with coloured ‘T’ shirts and the man of the match would be awarded with a Titan wrist watch. Mr. Chouhan further said the club would adopt at least two players from each team. “We would provide the tuition fees of the adopted students for the entire academic year,” he added. On the final day of the tournament, three outstanding sportspersons of the State would be felicitated by the club who would be provided with Rs. 5,000 as cash incentives. A committee has been formed to select the outstanding sportspersons who would be felicitated by the club, Mr. Chouhan said.
