Muslim cleric arrested in Lucknow

Lucknow: A Muslim cleric has been arrested for allegedly making a provocative speech at a mosque in Thakurganj area of the city.

Maulana Kafeel Ashraf gave a ‘takrir’ (speech) at the mosque on Tuesday in which he allegedly made some remarks about a Hindu goddess and the Shia and Sunni sects of the Muslims, police said.

They said Ashraf was arrested on the charges of vitiating communal harmony.
