Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is conducting a specialised course in “Cyber Crime Investigation and Computer Forensics” for Delhi police officials. The specialised programme was inaugurated jointly this week by Neeraj Kumar, Special Commissioner (Administration) of Delhi Police, and Vice-Chancellor K. K. Aggarwal. The training is a part of joint collaboration between the Delhi police and the University. “Computers have invaded every sphere of our lives and so has crime. Like every technology even Information Technology has both positive and negative aspects to it. If this technology creates problems, it also provides solutions. So there are ways of tackling cyber crimes like e-mail frauds, phishing, banking scams and hacking,” said Prof. Aggarwal. Over 100 investigating officers from each district of the Capital, at the rank of sub-inspector and inspector, will undertake the six-week programme in two batches. According to Mr. Kumar, cyber crimes are the crimes of modern age and a course like this would gear the officials to meet the challenges posed by cyber criminals. The training will be conducted by University School of Information Technology on the campus. Delhi University in the last week of March joined the Universitas 21 network. Established in 1997, Universitas 21 is an international network of leading research-intensive universities that formed U21Global to provide quality online higher education in a global market place. The Indian University’s participation in the network brings the number of U21Global affiliated universities to 21. “We are happy that Delhi University which has long upheld excellence in academics is now a part of U21 Global. We are very pleased that the University can now reach out to even more students. We want to encourage more and more students and research scholars to go abroad and benefit from such mutual exchange,” said Dean (International Relations) K. Sreenivas. Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University P. K. Abdul Azis released a newsletter of Faculty of Engineering and Technology on the campus early this week. On the occasion, the Faculty also launched a website -- http://www.zhcet.ac.in. -- to improve the University’s academic, administration and professional profile. “The world today is much more competitive than ever before. Innovation in research in cutting-edge areas of Science and Technology is essential to attain positions of academic excellence,” said Prof. Azis. Indian School of Business and Finance has introduced a one-year post-graduate diploma in Finance to be awarded by the University of London External System in association with the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science.
