CHAMARAJANAGAR: The president of Zilla Kannada Sanghatana Okkuta, S. Murali has urged the Deputy Commissioner, K. Vishwanath Reddy, to initiate legal action against leaders of Dravida Kalagam, Deshia Mukku Pokku, Konga Vellal and Paravai parties for allegedly entering the State’s border and hoisting Tamil Nadu’s flags and damaging to public property at Hogenakkal. Mr. Murali and members of the okkuta met Mr. Vishwanath Reddy at his office here on Wednesday and urged him to direct the Superintendent of Police to file a case against the leaders of these parties for their action. In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Murali said that the activists from Tamil Nadu under the leadership of Sudeesh Kumar, Ilangovan, Eshwar and Balasubramanyam entered the prohibited area in Hogenakkal a few days ago and hoisted Tamil Nadu’s flags. He alleged that the activists had damaged the property of the State. He said the State police did not take action against the activists when they entered the State and damaged public property. He said since Hogenakkal came under the reserved forest area, implementation of any development work had been prohibited. But Tamil Nadu had taken up a Rs. 1,334-crore water supply project violating rules and regulations, he added. Mr. Vishwanath Reddy told them that he would ask the Superintendent of Police to submit a report on the incident at Hogenakkal. If property of the State was found to be damaged, action would be initiated against the activists from Tamil Nadu, he said.
