dated April 3, 1958: India’s neutral policy

Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, India’s Vice-President, said on March 31 that the United States leaders realise the importance of India’s non-involvement policy. They were also “conscious of the strategic importance of India in Asia,” he told a group of Indian students in San Francisco. Because of this non-involvement policy India receives loan to further her economic growth, and through economic development the lot of masses can be improved. Dr. Radhakrishnan added that “even if there had been no neutral India, there would have to be another neutral nation to further the spirit of international understanding.”
