Corrections and clarifications

An item (“Snippets — Business” page, April 2, 2008) was “New Deputy Chairman for IBA”, which said that “The managing committee of Indian Banks Association (IB) has selected P.K. Gupta, the chairman and Managing Director of Union Bank of India, as the new deputy chairman of IBA.” P.K. Gupta is the chairman and managing director of United Bank of India. The contraction of the Indian Banks Association is IBA.

The heading of an item (“Snippets — Business” page, April 1, 2008) was “Reliance Energy wins Rs. 1,200 contract”, while the text said “Reliance Energy Limited (REL) on Monday bagged two contracts worth Rs. 1,200 crore for execution of 400 kV extra high voltage transmission system in Western India.” The text is right.

In an article “Uphill tasks for government and Reserve Bank of India” (“Business Review” page, March 31, 2008), the fourth paragraph had a reference to the Eleventh Finance Commission. It was an error and should have been the 13th Finance Commission.
