East Bengal beats Al Wihdat
KOLKATA: East Bengal sailed to the top of the group standings with a 2-0 win over Jordan’s Al Wihdat in a AFC Cup Group ‘B’ league match played at the latter’s home on Wednesday, according to information received here.
Midfielder Alvito D’Cunha put East Bengal ahead in the 58th minute before his Nigerian colleague, Ibe Gift, sealed the win in the 69th minute.
East Bengal, which picked up full points beating Ahli Sana’a of Yemen at home here on March 18, doubled its tally to six points from three outings. The away win put East Bengal a point clear of Safa FC of Lebanon, which played out a goalless draw with Sana’a in another match.
East Bengal will meet the Jordanian side at home on April 16.
