Coimbatore: MRF Limited has confirmed three entries for the 2008 FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship, which begins at New Caledonia next week. The entries include Katsuhiko Taguchi (Japan) with co-driver Mark Stacey (Australia), Scott Pedder (Australia) and co-driver Glen Weston (Australia) and Gaurav Gill (India) with co-drivers Glen MacNeall (Canberra, Whangarei and Makassar) and John Mortimer. New entrantsPedder and Weston are the new faces in the team. They have years of experience in rallying, especially in Australia. However, both will be first timers on the APRC circuit. All the three drivers will be driving Mitsubishi EVO9 cars. “The team (Team MRF) looks good but the competition is definitely going to be intense this year,” MRF’s Motor Sport Head, Tony Rodricks said. “Katsuhiko is the experienced of the bunch. We expect him to fare well this season,” he added. Rodricks said Gill would not figure in the opener at Noumea in New Caledonia. “He suffered a minor injury to his knee but will be back in action either for Australia or New Zealand.” Out of the seven rounds in the championship, MRF has decided to participate in Noumea (New Caledonia, April 12-13), Canberra (Australia, May 10-11), Whangarei (New Zealand, June 7-8), Obihiro (Japan, July 12-13), Makassar (Indonesia, Aug 23-24) and Johor Bahru (Malaysia Oct 11-12).
