Vendor attempts self immolation
NEW DELHI: A 44-year-old vegetable vendor, whose licence for selling vegetables had been cancelled in 2001, allegedly tried to immolate himself near the Congress headquarters here on Wednesday. However, he was saved by the passers-by and handed over to the police. Around 1 p.m., Amar Singh, a resident of Trilokpuri, came near the Congress Headquarters at 24 Akbar Road and was about to pour kerosene on himself when some passers-by saw him. They overpowered him and called up the police. Amar was arrested for allegedly attempting suicide.
