Protesters take out torchlight march

FIERY PROTEST: Pro-Kannada activists B.T. Lalita Nayak (left), Mukyamantri Chandru, Kodihalli Chandrashekar and Narayana Gowda taking out a torchlight parade against Tamil Nadu Government’s decision to implement Hogenakkal water supply scheme in Bangalore on Wednesday.

BANGALORE: Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike took out a torchlight procession protesting against execution of drinking water project by Tamil Nadu Government at Hogenakkal.

The procession was led by vedike president T.A. Narayanagowda, MLC “Mukhyamantri” Chandru, and the former Minister B.T. Lalita Nayak.

The vedike members took out a procession from Hudson Circle to Basaveshwara Circle. Then Mr. Narayangowda, Mr. Chandru and Ms. Nayak submitted a memorandum at Raj Bhavan.

Mr. Narayanagowda told presspersons that he had urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to prevail upon the Union Government to stop the execution of the project.

Ban sought

Mr. Narayanagowda said he had asked authorities to take action to ban airing programmes of Tamil television channels.
