No change in airport name

Meena Menon

MUMBAI: The Ministry of Civil Aviation has refuted allegations that the name of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here is being altered and that the location of the statue of Shivaji Maharaj in the airport is being changed.

The statement has come in response to discussions in the Maharashtra Assembly on the issue. The Ministry clarified that the Centre had not given permission for any such change. The name of the airport will continue to remain Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, and the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji will always remain at the international airport.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel has directed the promoters of the Mumbai International Airport Ltd. to keep in mind the local sensibilities while undertaking the upgradation and modernisation of the Mumbai airport.
