Big win for Dharmapuri

Chennai: Dharmapuri recorded an imposing 8-2 win over Dindigul on the opening day of the SDAT-TNHA Champions Cup hockey tournament at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Wednesday.

T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, inaugurated the championship in the presence of Dr. M. Rajendran, member-secretary, SDAT and K. Jothikumaran, Secretary, TNHA.

The results: Madras Blues 2 (Vivek, Balaji) bt Tanjore 0.

Dharmapuri 8 (Elavarasan 2, Kesavan 2, Iyappan 2, Anbu, Satish Kumar) bt Dindigul 2 (Deepa Ganesh 2).

G.K. Motors 3 (A. G. Kannan, Sivamani, Vaman) bt Nilgiris 1 (Ram Prakash).

Vellore 2 (Dhanraj, Nishan) bt Sangiri 1 (R. Dhanapal).
