Punctuality does not pay here

Kovalam MLA George Mercier, known to be a punctual man, had the unpleasant experience of arriving at the venue of a seminar he was invited to inaugurate and finding it deserted except for the organisers.

The organisers, Fisheries Survey of India, a Central government agency, told him that they had informed the State Fisheries Department and Matsyafed officials in advance about the seminar.

Thirty minutes later and with no sign of an audience, the MLA left in a huff, but not before expressing his displeasure over the poor organisation of the event.
