Award for panchayat

Krishnagiri: Mittapalli panchayat in Uthangarai taluk has bagged the best panchayat award for the year 2008-09 for observing practice against untouchability and living in amity. The president of Mittapalli panchayat D. Indira Gandhi received the award from Collector Santhosh Babu, which carries a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh. A government appointed committee selected the panchayat. Assistant Director panchayats Ramakrishnan was present.
