Girl killed as lorry razes wall

VILLUPURAM: A sand-laden tipper lorry ran amok at Madampattu in the Thiruvennainallaur block near here, killing a seven-year-old girl sleeping in her house on Thursday morning.
The lorry, which was on its way from Thaduthatkondur to Villupuram, also hit a bullock cart, injuring the cartman and killing one of the bullocks.
In the impact, the cart ran into a roadside teashop injuring two persons.
The vehicle then hit the girl’s house and pulled down the wall before coming to a halt.
In the accident all the five members of the family, including Narayanan, his wife Kannagi, son Balaji and daughters Dhanalakshmi and Jayanthi, suffered injuries. While Jayanthi died, the others have been admitted to Villupuram government hospital.
The police are looking for the lorry driver.
