False details to incur strict action

NEW DELHI: Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Haroon Yusuf on Thursday cautioned that criminal prosecution proceedings would be launched against people furnishing false information for getting their ration cards made.

Replying to a query in the Delhi Assembly, the Minister said the Delhi Government is making Above Poverty Line ration cards for families having an annual income of less than Rs.1 lakh. He said to ensure that families earning more than this amount do not apply for the cards it has been decided that the Department officials would conduct random checking of documents submitted by various applicants in support of their income claim. He declared that the Department would initiate criminal proceedings against those people who are found to have furnished false information. He also said that on the directions of the Chief Minister the last date for stamping of the APL ration cards has also been extended.
