House session beats soaps
The concluding day of the budget session of Assembly the other day that was telecast live sure gave stiff competition for routine soaps on other channels.
The debate between the members of the ruling party and the main opposition Telugu Desam (TDP) on the ‘No confidence motion’ moved by the latter, had all the ingredients- satire, humour, tongue-in-cheek remarks, emotional outbursts in addition to personal allegations traded by the rival groups- that kept one glued to the TV sets.
The debate that extended well after midnight was viewed more for the entertainment value with veterans from both the parties trading charges.
Congress leaders, seasoned at the game of taking on opposition, without losing cool succeeded in several counts to drive home their point laced with humour, sarcasm and of course their gift of the gab.
They clearly took the steam out of the opposition verbal attack and kept them on the defence most of the time.
It is a different issue that none of the serious issues concerning people, projects came up in the marathon session though it scored high on entertainment value.
