Institute to offer Global Entrepreneurship, E MBA

To collaborate with business school in Paris

VISAKHAPATNAM: International Business is fast gaining popularity in the changed scenario of globalisation and those who graduate in the subject would be in great demand.

The growing popularity of the subject can be gauged from the fact that while 600 students applied for admission into the Masters Program in International Business course in GITAM Institute of International Business (GIIB) last year, this year the number increased to 800, according to its director V.K. Kumar.

Addressing a media conference here on Thursday, he said the institute had a track record of 100 per cent placements, for the past several years.

The highest salary offered this year to a student of the institute was Rs.5.7 lakhs a year and the average salary of the batch was Rs.3.7 lakhs a year.

Prof. Kumar said that the institute was planning to offer a three-month course in Global Entrepreneurship to train people to become entrepreneurs and the E MBA Program for working executives.

He said that 10 students of the 2007-09 batch won the first prize in ‘Marketing Strategy’ and ‘ADMOCK’ at the national-level event conducted by IIT-Kanpur recently. They outsmarted students from IIMs and IITs in the competition, he said.

Prof. Kumar announced that the institute had entered into an MoU with a leading software company to train students in the flagship programme for their final placements. Another collaborative arrangement was made with Burgandy School of Business in Paris.

Prof. V.G. Patnaik, Prof. P.E.S. Vidyasagar and Prof. M. Subrahmanyam spoke.
