Court adjourns contempt case
Legal Correspondent
Hyderabad: A Division Bench of the A.P. High Court comprising Justice T. Meena Kumari and Justice G. Chandraiah adjourned the contempt case initiated by the court against Vijay Kumar, commissioner AYUSH, to June 30.
It may be recalled that the Bench did not take kindly to the allegations that the Commissioner, an IAS officer, informed the court that there were no vacancies in the cadre of professors when one Srinivasulu asked for promotion. However, Srinivasulu, applied for information under the Right to Information Act and it was revealed that there were posts available. Vijay Kumar appeared as party in person before the Bench on Thursday and said that there was no deliberate misrepresentation. The Bench called for records and note files and found many entries that disclosed how the Commissioner functioned. It expressed displeasure at the state of affairs while adjourning the case.
