No improvement in situation: Hurriyat

Srinagar: Moderate Hurriyat Conference on Friday claimed that the human rights situation in the militancy-hit Jammu and Kashmir was bad, a charge denied by the State government.

“The situation is grave...random arrests, plight of prisoners. It all negates the claims of improvement in the situation and return of normalcy,” its chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said here.

A Hurriyat delegation is participating in an international conference at Brussels where they will brief human rights organisations about the situation in the State, the Mirwaiz said. — PTI
