Suhani in ‘Sawaal’

Never differentiate people as class and mass but treat them as one -- is Bharat’s advice to Sayaji Shinde in the climax of Sawaal.

After watching the film one is compelled to disagree with him. This one is only for the masses that relish the thrills of challenge and gloat over sub-standard intellect, laugh over dim-witted and clichéd jokes and escape to the hill station in d ream duets that too in historic costumes.

It might work for them but for others it’s a pure assault on the senses; violence is violence no matter how it is depicted.

Concoction

The scenes are concoction of various films and there is no reason to make a movie like this unless the director/scriptwriter finds an inspiration from some vague point that looks ‘different’.

Run of the mill

Bharat is an orphan living in the slums and is raised by Raghu Babu and Suhani is the rich, arrogant daughter of an ACP played by Sayaji Shinde.

A scene directly lifted from ‘Khaidi No. 786’, Suhani drives her car rashly and the slush falls all over Bharat, he pelts a stone on her car and a schism begins. It doesn’t take long before hatred turns into love but it is a real ‘sawaal’ from here onwards for the audience to bear the rest of the story.

This is a debut film as a heroine for Suhani who wowed us as a child artiste in ‘Manasantha Nuvve’.

She has done her job well but it will take a while for the audiences to get used to her as a heroine, she still looks like a gawky teenager.

Mumait’s appearance has become customary and the inclusion of M.S. Narayana and AVS shows the director has run out of ideas.

Brahmanandam as a TV reporter and Kovai Sarala try to be funny but they fail while Paruchuri Gopalkrishna and Bharat look awkward with heavy pancake on their faces and the rest of the characters walk in and out of frames. Bankruptcy of good music, dramatic and senseless climax leaves one hopeless. On the whole, you can term it as a sleep inducing film!
