Varanasi: At least twelve people were killed and several got burn injuries in lightning and thunderstorm incidents in several parts of the eastern Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday. Seven deaths were reported from the Chandauli district since Thursday. Two persons died each in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra district and one died due to lightning in the Jaunpur district. Chandauli district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 each to the kin of the deceased.
