Meerut: Nine home guards, including a woman, were dismissed on Friday for allegedly manhandling a swing operator during a fair in the district. While inquiry is pending against 22 of their colleagues, 13 others were acquitted with a warning, sources said. A swing operator was manhandled after he refused access to two home guards during the Navchandi Fair on May 4, 2007. A complaint was lodged against them, after Home Guard Deputy Commandant S.P. Singh failed to sort out the issue. -- PTI
