Mallikarjun not to contest now

DAVANGERE: President of the Davangere District Congress Committee S.S. Mallikarjun is unlikely to contest the coming Assembly elections.

Mr. Mallikarjun, son of the former MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa, may contest the next Lok Sabha elections instead, family members close to him told The Hindu.

Both father and son were supposed to contest from Davangere South and Davangere North constituencies respectively. Mr. Mallikarjun is now working on establishing a sugar factory in Mudhol.
