Over Hogenakkal drinking water supply project imbroglio
|
KARUR: Members of the Karur Bar Association staged a protest demonstration in front of the Court Complex here to show their protest against former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddiyurappa and Kannada Chaluvali leader Vattal Nagaraj over the Hogenakkal drinking water supply project imbroglio. They tried to burn effigies of the two personalities before the police came and doused the effigies.
Meanwhile, cadres of the Pattali Makkal Katchi staged a protest demonstration in front of the Taluk Office here to condemn the actions of the “Kannada chauvinists” and enacting vandalism against Tamils residing in Karnataka.
The protest was led by the district secretary R. Kamaraj and included the party State deputy general secretary and former MLA A. R. Malayappasamy.
A large number of Tamil enthusiasts and cadres from the Tamil Peravai, Periyar Dravida Kazhagam and individuals participated in the demonstration.
The protestors also demanded that the Karnataka State Government should extend protection to the life and property of the Tamils living there.
