Bodies of missing cops found with throats slit

SRINAGAR: The bodies of two police constables, suspected to have been abducted by Jaish-e-Mohammad militants yesterday, were recovered with the throats slit from a forested area in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Constables Tariq Ahmad and Nazir Ahmad were kidnapped by militants yesterday and later killed, a police spokesman said.

He said their bodies with the throats slit were found in Batnoor forest in Lolab area of the district and a hunt was on for the militants who killed the policemen.

The two constables last evening did not return to Sogam police station where they were posted and were last seen at Surigam village of Lolab by locals of the area, he said. Though no militant outfit claimed responsbility for the abduction and killing of the policemen, Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad is suspected to be behind it, police sources added. - PTI
