dated April 5, 1958: Walk for peace

A group of 62 pacifists who have spent the last five days on a “walk for peace” from Philadelphia arrived in New York on April 3 with a petition protesting against the continued testing of nuclear weapons which they plan to present to the U.N.

Among the group was a 60 year old blind man, a number of women and a 10 year old boy. They arrived displaying placards bearing slogans such as “walk for peace” and “Atom tests kill and deform."
