All-India basketball from May 10

Coimbatore: The 50th and the seventh all India basketball tournaments for the Nachimuthu Gounder Cup and the CRI Pumps Trophy for men and women will be held at the VOC Park basketball courts here from May 10 to 15.

Being the golden jubilee year, the Coimbatore District Basketball Association plans to hold an exhibition covering the events over the last 49 years besides honouring the district players who had figured in the inaugural edition.

Summer camp

The Nodal Centre for Entrepreneurship and Management Development of the PSG Polytechnic College will conduct the summer coaching camp in tennis and cricket at its campus from April 17.

NIS certified cricket coaches and the United States Professional Tennis Registry certified tennis coaches will be handling the training sessions.

Pat Etcheberry of the United States, a personal trainer to professional athletes, NBA basketball players and tennis professionals like Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi, will be conducting the strength and conditioning sessions.

Coaching camps

The Department of Physical Education of the PSG College of Technology will conduct a 21-day summer coaching camp in basketball and football at its premises from April 16. The inauguration is scheduled on April 11. Contact 4363335 or 9894326730 for details.
