Sports Hostel downs HASC

BANGALORE: Sports Hostel, Bangalore probably effected its biggest upset in the State basketball league. At the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Friday, the Hostelites after five successive defeats pulled off a 56-53 win over former champion HASC in the Prof. N.C. Parappa memorial trophy ‘A’ division basketball league.

Sports Hostel fought back after being down 30-21 at the halfway mark. Rabbani (15) was in his elements as usual while A.R. Varun too came up with crucial conversions. This was Hostelites first win in six matches while HASC have had mixed luck this season winning three and losing two other matches. At the adjacent court, KSP continued its winning ways with a comfortable 59-31 margin over winless Beagles.

The results: KSP 59 (Mahesh 10) bt Beagles 31 (Shivu 10); Sports Hostel 56 (Rabbani 15, A.R. Varun 10) bt HASC 53 (Rajkumar 22, Ismail 10). — Special Correspondent
