Elizabeth shines for Kozhikode

KOCHI: Elizabeth scored 20 points as Kozhikode defeated Malappuram 32-18 and entered the girls semifinals of the 35th Kerala State sub-junior basketball championship at the Sacred Heart School courts (Thevara) on Friday evening.

Defending champions, Ernakulam boys and Kannur girls, also made the last-four grade without much fuss.

The results (quarterfinals): Boys: Ernakulam 42 (Bibin Selvin 12, SibinThomas 10) bt Thiruvananthapuram 5; Alappuzha 46 (Dany Peter 15, N. Sreeraj 10) bt Kasargode 18; Kannur 31 (Tins Thomas 12, Albin Babu 12) bt Thrissur 25.

Girls: Kannur 18 bt Ernakulam 3; Kozhikode 32 (Elizabeth 20) bt Malappuram 18; Thrissur 12 bt Kollam 8; Kottayam 29 (Nishi Marium 14) bt Thiruvananthapuram 13 (Silpee Krishna 10).
