Student killed

It was a last working day of his college on Friday, but it turned out to be the last day of his life for an engineering student when he was killed in a road accident at Kokapet in the suburbs.

Twenty-two-year-old G. Vijayender Reddy, a resident of Telecom Colony in Gachibowli, was going to his college on a motorcycle when a tipper carrying gravel all of a sudden started tripping back while in motion.

The victim got crushed in the process under the rear wheels of the tipper and died on the spot.

Narsingi Sub-Inspector S. Bheem Reddy said the victim was a final year student of MGIT College and was going to attend a seminar in the college when the accident happened. The youth got through campus recruitment too but wanted to study further. Police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the tipper driver.

Man commits suicide

A real estate businessman Kadari Venkatesh, 28, committed suicide after dousing his wife Santoshini, 24, and one-year-old Vamshi in kerosene and setting them on fire in his house at Hayathnagar on Friday night.

The mother and son are battling for life at a private hospital.

The Hayathnagar police Inspector N. Narasimha Reddy said differences over family matters between the wife and husband drove the latter to resort to the extreme step.

Venkatesh lives at Pasumamula village in Hayathangar mandal.

He picked up an argument with his wife around 8 p.m. In a fit of rage, he poured kerosene over her, their child and himself.
