Akhtar appeals against ban

KARACHI: Shoaib Akhtar said on Friday that he appealed against a five-year ban imposed by Pakistan’s cricket authorities for repeated breaches of discipline.

“I have filed an appeal against the ban and hope that I will get justice,” Akhtar said. — AFP

Akhtar’s contract with the DLF-Indian Premier League (IPL) is still valid and he will be allowed to play if he is cleared by the Pakistan Appellate Tribunal, the IPL Chairman, Lalit Modi, said on Friday.
