MYSORE: The campaign for increasing the green cover of Mysore will a boost with Sapgreen, an initiative to partner public, government, corporates and tourists to promote afforestation, all set for inauguration here. The activities of Sapgreen will commence on April 7 with planting of saplings at a park managed by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) at Vijayanagar at 4 p.m. The concept of “urban forest” will also be introduced for the first time in Mysore with the support of MUDA, according to Enlen Marketing and Renewable Energy Systems Private Limited, a company promoting sustainable development here. As part of its activities, it has announced its first step of “greening” Mysore through sapgreen.com Sapgreen’s vision is to promote urban afforestation, sustainable tourism, ethical carbon offsetting, accountable CSR and environment responsibility solutions. The first urban forest will be dedicated to environmentalists Snake Shyam and Hyder Ali Khan.
