Heavy rainfall in many districts

Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR: Several districts across Orissa received heavy rainfall, which brought the much-needed respite in view of soaring temperature during past few weeks.

Though heavy rains affected normal life at many places, people at large enjoyed the sudden change in weather.

State Revenue Control Room sources said Alipingal received highest rainfall of 12 cm followed by Nimpara and Gudari with 9 cm each. Similarly, 8 cm rainfall was recorded at port town of Paradip while Puri got 7 cm of rainfall.

The rain was widespread. Heavy rains were witnessed in the coastal and southern districts.

Local met office warned that rain and thundershowers were likely to occur at a few places over coastal and some places in interior parts. The Revenue Control Room said there was no report of any casualty or major damage due to rain.
