Nedumbassery: A gang of six waylaid a car and robbed a bag of travel documents near the Cochin airport in Chengamanadu police station limits on Saturday morning. The robbery occurred when Saithu Omar Abdul Khader of Thrikkaripur and his family were heading to the airport to catch a Riyadh-bound Saudi Airlines flight scheduled for departure at 12.30 p.m. As they entered the uninhabited portion of the airport road near the proposed golf course, the gang intercepted them in a Tata Sumo and snatched the bag and fled. The police said that the bag contained travel documents, passports and a cell phone. There has been a long pressing demand from the local residents as well as the passengers for a greater security cover for the airport road.
