50 events to mark seer’s birthday

Chitradurga: The Murugharajendra Math will hold 50 programmes of public importance to mark the 50th birthday celebrations of Shivamurthy Murughasharanaru of the math.

The programmes will start from April 11, the swamiji’s birthday, and last till October 10.

In a press release, the math has said that programmes include distribution of 5,000 saris to poor people, plantation of 50,000 saplings, construction of houses for 50 poor families and distribution of aids to 50 physically-challenged people. Besides this, the math will hold year-long awareness programmes in various parts of the State. A special programme will be held on April 11 at the math, which will be attended by political leaders such as the former Chief Ministers B.S. Yeddyurappa, H.D. Kumaraswamy and S.M. Krishna. Seers of the Adichunchunagiri Math, Vijay Mahanteshwar Math, Siddaganga Math and Manavatsallya Ashram of Rishikesh will participate.
