It’s all in the family

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana had enthroned his son Nagaraju as Guntur Mayor, after a protracted high-drama, little after the civic polls in the State. As a quid pro quo arrangement, he had the Deputy Mayor post allotted to Tadisetty Murali, younger brother of Tadisetty Venkata Rao, MLA of Guntur-II Assembly constituency.

The Rayapati family acceded to this arrangement only when they were promised that Sai Mohan Krishna, son of Rayapati Srinivas, Congress MLC, would be elected Mayor after Mr. Nagaraju completed his stint. Elder brother of Dr. Srinivas and Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao too pressured the party leadership to “keep up promise.”
