Jagjivan Ram’s birth anniversary

Bangalore: The State Government on Saturday celebrated the 101st birth anniversary of the former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram in a low key, cancelling the public function organised at the Vidhana Soudha because of the Model Code of Conduct being in force in the State.

According to sources in the Government, the Department of Social Welfare had made elaborate arrangements to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Dalit leader on a grand scale.

Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao garlanded a portrait of the late leader. — Special Correspondent
