The final review meeting and workshop of the atlas project was being held from Friday to Sunday. It is funded by the Ford Foundation and French Institute of Pondicherry. In the last three years, a team of historians, archaeologists and geographic information systems specialists from the Tamil University of Thanjavur, Mahatma Gandhi University of Kottayam, Mangalore University, Hyderabad University and French Institute of Pondicherry were involved in the project. The atlas would provide archaeological and historical data with geographical information system functionalities.
