GUNTUR: It was a fun-filled evening with students from both first and second years of Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication dancing, singing and presenting several innovative games during the farewell function for the students of 2006-08 batch on Saturday. Students shared their experiences at the university college. With 13 out of 18 students from the final year getting placements in news TV channels and newspapers, the joy got doubled. “We feel sad that we are leaving this wonderful institution, but are happy that it could shape us in the right way and helped us find jobs even before we wrote out final examination,” said Ramesh P., a final year student being trained for a channel to be launched. Department coordinator A. Subrahmanyam advised the students to look for a posting in good organisations where they could learn the intricacies of job be it in the electronic media or the print media and not look for how much they get paid. Dressed in sarees and western outfits, girls from the first year and the final year also held a mock ramp walk to showcase their latent talent. InnovativeThis batch had the credit of starting many new things like launching an internal monthly magazine ‘Suhrulekha’ and getting good assignments as part-time reporters for some regular dailies. “They also set an example for other university students on how seniors should behave with juniors,” said first year student P. Prasanna. A first year student Aruna anchored the programme.
