Stone laid for combined court building
Staff Reporter
Tuticorin: P. Jyothimani, Judge, Madras High Court, laid the foundation stone for the combined court building and judicial officers’ quarters to be established on an outlay Rs.8.88 crore, here on Saturday.
Official sources said that the Public Works Department would execute the project which was expected to be completed during the next financial year.
The combined court building, having a total plinth area of 7,500 sq metre spread over three floors, would house District and Sessions court, Sub-Court, Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Principal District Munsif Court, Additional District Munsif court, and courts of two Judicial Magistrates. The residential quarters would be constructed for two judges of the ‘rank’ of District Judge and for Additional District Munsif.
V. Radhika Selvi, Minister of State for Home Affairs, requested the lawyers to refrain themselves from boycotting court sessions as far possible, while staging agitations.
