RANIPET: The Boiler Auxiliaries Plant (BAP) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Ranipet, has achieved an all-time high turnover of Rs. 1,415.25 crore in 2007-08, registering a growth of more than 30 per cent. Besides, it recorded a 65 per cent rise in the profit before tax (PBT) at Rs. 208.14 crore. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, , A. V. Krishnan, General Manager (in-charge) of BAP, said the Ranipet plant was making profits for the 24th year in a row, and the profit before tax crossed the Rs. 200-crore for the first time. The plant has the highest ever outstanding order book of Rs. 4,658 crore, including orders worth Rs. 2,939 crore booked during the year. It has received an export order for a dust control system from New Caledonia, an island north of Australia. The BAP registered an export turnover of Rs. 125.72 crore, which included deemed exports. In the desalination segment, the BAP has received the first order for a reverse osmosis-demineralisation (RO-DM) plant for a combined cycle power plant for three 250 MW thermal plants in Pipavav in Gujarat, and a repeat order for an RO-DM plant from the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL), Bellary. Besides, the BAP had received a first time order for a sea-water based RO-DM system for one 600 MW thermal plant in North Chennai. Mr. Krishnan said the BAP in February launched a capacity augmentation scheme which had targeted to expand its production capacity to 2.07 lakh tonnes (equivalent to 15,000 MW of power) by December 2009.
