VISAKHAPATNAM: Vidarbha made the last four of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, beating Himachal Pradesh by 29 runs in a match marked by tight bowling and good fielding at the ACA-VDCA Stadium here on Saturday. Vidarbha made 204 and then went about the task of defending its total with the bowlers being restrictive and the fielders picking up some brilliant catches. Himachal’s unwillingness to go for runs in the initial stages also helped Vidarbha’s cause. Himachal put Vidarbha in and left-arm pacer Ashok Thakur did his bit by bowling a good opening spell. He picked up four wickets and Malik supported him with two wickets. The semifinals will start on Monday with Mumbai playing Bengal and Vidarbha taking on Saurashtra on Tuesday. The scores: Vidarbha 204 in 49.4 overs (Faiz Fazal 64, Urvesh Patel 40, Ashok Thakur four for 38) bt. Himachal Pradesh 175 in 45.4 overs.
