Easy win for Germany

Chennai: World champion Germany made a comfortable start in the third Olympic hockey qualifier at Kakamigara (Gifu-Japan) beating Italy 8-0 after leading 4-0 at half-time on Saturday.

In other matches, Malaysia beat Poland 2-1 and Japan beat Switzerland.

The winner of the event will qualify as the 12th team for the Beijing Olympic Games.
