KOA for Games in June
BANGALORE: Karnataka Olympic Association has requested IOA to conduct the National Youth Games in the second week or third week of June in view of the State Assembly polls here in May. The Games were scheduled to be held at Bangalore from May11 to 18 which clash with poll dates.
“This event is supported by the State Government and with polls here, the entire government machinery will be tied with that work and hence we have suggested that the Games be held in June”, said K. Govindraj, president of the KOA. A formal letter to IOA has already been sent he added.
Mr. Govindraj said, a decision on the fresh dates for the Youth Games would be taken after Mr. Suresh Kalmadi returns from Beijing.” — Special Correspondent
