NAVY MIGHT: FGS Hamburg berthed at the Kochi port on Saturday. KOCHI: Three warships of the German Navy arrived in Kochi on Saturday, on a four-day routine visit. The German Task Force comprises the ships FGS Hamburg, FGS Koeln and FGS Berlin, with Captain Michael Budde as the Commander of the Task Force. The Ambassador of Germany to India Bernd Mützelburg, and Rear Admiral Karl W Bollow, Flotilla Commander, will also be at Kochi during the ships’ anchorage here. FGS Hamburg with Lt Cdr Helge Risch as her captain is an air-defence ship, about 470 feet in length and a crew of 242 personnel, while FGS Koeln, under Lt Cdr Uwe MaaB, is a frigate, 426 feet in length and has 208 personnel and FGS Berlin is a replenishment tanker, 528 feet long, manned by a crew of 207 and commanded by Lt Cdr Hans-Gunther Struck. Senior German Navy officers will call on the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command – Vice Admiral Sunil K. Damle, and Chief of Staff - Rear Admiral Sunil Lanba.
