Call to convene all-party meet

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Labour Forum, an umbrella organisation of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) in public sector undertakings, has urged Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to convene an all-party meeting to take steps to protect Travancore Titanium Products (TTP) Ltd. Addressing a State-level meet here, forum chairman and INTUC working committee chairman Palode Ravi said the move to close down the TTP, by bringing down the production, should be dropped. Mr. Ravi pointed out that raw material for the manufacture of Titanium dioxide was freely available in the State. The move to close down the TTP should be taken seriously and steps should be initiated to protect the 60-year-old undertaking.
