Healthy Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very special occasion in a woman’s life. To make it as a joyous occasion & to have a healthy smiling baby - Here are some tips

Preconceotional & Periconceotional Counsellina

Grouping & Rh Typing for the couple

Bloodsugar

Torch Screening

Thyroid function Test

MMR vaccination 6 months prior to planned pregancy

Regular intake of folic acid Tablets.

Urine pregnancy Test 5 days after the missed period ’" Regular folic acid intake

Scan to know whether the pregnancy is in Normal location.

Dont’s

• Don’t take any medications on your own.

• Don’t get exposed to Xrays

• Don’t have close contact with any persons with infectious I Communicable diseases.

• Don’t take any contaminated I spoiled food

• Don’t take anything with chemical preservatives

• Don’t travel in jerky roads, avoid long travels

• Don’t lift heavy weights.

• Don’t take excessive rest I sleep.

• Don’t take excessive salt, sugar.

• Avoid anxiety, anger, depression.

Do’s

• Confirm pregnancy at the earliest - 5 days after missed periods - contact the doctor for first booking your pregnancy.

• Regular folic acid intake - starting 3 months prior to pregnancy itself & during the first 3 months of pregnancy.

• Scan at 2nd month, 6th month, 9th month to know the position of baby, to rule out any anomalies

in the baby.

• Iron & calcium Tablets to be swallowed regularly from 4th month.

• Take a nutritious diet (fresh vegetables, fruits, pulses, meat, liver, greens, Dates, millets)

• Use only Boiled water.

• Go for regular walking & do your routine day to day activities.

• Immunisation with Tetanus Toxoid.

• Check your weight & B.P regularly.

• Take care of the breast - nipple.

• Check up with doctor - once in 4 weeks upto 7th month, once in 2 weeks from 7th to 9th month then once in a week.

• Checking your blood sugar & HB% as and when needed.

• Have a peaceful mind, have happy interaction with your baby in womb.

• Prepare yourself mentally for the labour pains. It helps to reduce the intensity of labour pain.
